    Ibn Taymiyyah

    Ibn Taymiyyah Bismigold
In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Shaykh al-Islam Taqi ud-Din Abu'l-Abbas Ahmad Ibn al-Halim ibn Abd al-Salam Ibn Taymiyah al-Hanbali was born in , 661 AH (1263 AC) in Haran, which is now in Eastern Turkey, near the border of northern Iraq..
His family had long been renowned for its learning , among his teachers, was Shams ud-Din Al-Maqdisi, first Hanbali Chief Justice of Syria following the reform of the judiciary by Baibars. The number of Ibn Taimiyah's teachers exceeds two hundred. Ibn Taimiyah was barely seventeen, when Qadi Al-Maqdisi authorized him to issue Fatwa (legal verdict). Qadi remembered with pride that it was he who had first permitted an intelligent and learned man like Ibn Taimiyah to give Fatwa. At the same age, he started delivering lectures. When he was thirty, he was offered the office of Chief Justice, but refused, as he could not persuade himself to follow the limitations imposed by the authorities.Imam Ibn Taimiyah's education was essentially that of a Hanbali theologian and jurisconsult. But to his knowledge of early and classical Hanbalism, he added not only that of the other schools of jurisprudence
but also that of other literature. He had an extensive knowledge of Quran, Sunnah, Greek philosophy, Islamic history, and religious books of others, as is evident from the variety of the books he wrote.

The Lofty Virtues of Ibn Taymiyyah

    Ibn Taymiyyah Ibntaymiyyah

By The Imam, the Hafidh Abu Hafs 'Umar bin 'Ali al-Bazzar. Translated
By Abu Sabaaya. If I had to swear standing between the corner of the
Ka'bah and the spot of Ibrahim, I would swear that I have not laid my
two eyes on anyone like him, nor has he seen anyone as knowledgeable as
    himself. al-Hafidh adh-Dhahabi

    The author said:

When I learned of the death of the scholar and educator of this Ummah -
the Imam, the mujtahid, the defender of the pure Shariah and Prophetic
Sunnah, Shaykh al-Islam Taqi ad-Din Abi al-Abbas Ahmad bin Abd al-Halim
bin Abd as-Salam bin Taymiyyah (may Allah sanctify his soul and brighten
his grave) - some of the scholars and those who loved good for the
Muslims said to me: You saw and befriended the Shaykh, and you came to
know him and his characteristics. If only you could write a few words
regarding what you saw in order to benefit whoever of this Ummah comes
across them, since mercy descends when we remember the righteous people.

So, I responded: I only accompanied him for a few days, and I only know
few of this many virtues However, I saw that they intended good and that
what they were requesting of me was a right and obligation upon me, as
the scholar should be keen to spread and distribute what he thinks will
be of value to the Muslims. So, I produced a small effort describing his
virtues which will give the intelligent reader an idea of the honor and
excellence of this man. I divided it into sections in order that it be a
guide to those who reflect, and I included all that I could remember
    under each one...

Diseases of the Hearts & Their Cures

    Ibn Taymiyyah Diseasesoftheheart

By Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah. Actions are distinguished, one from
the other, with respect to their excellence in the Sight of Allaah in
accordance with the condition of the heart, not by their number or form,
but rather due to the strength of the caller, his truthfulness, his
sincerity and the extent to which he prefer Allaah over himself?
Al-Haafidh ibn Hajr al-Asqalaanee, may Allaah have mercy upon him and
provide us with his knowledge, said: ?The heart has been singled out for
this because it is the leader of the body, and through the purification
of the leader the subjects become purified, and with his corruption
they become corrupted. So if you, Observant of Allaah, wish to cure your
hear then it is upon you to be truthful with regards to seeking refuge
with Allaah and putting your trust in Him, to pray a great deal of
supererogatory prayers, to perform the actions of obedience to Allaah
frequently, to pray the night prayer while the people are sleeping, and
to treat your heart by making it continuously stick to the remembrances
and by befriending only the righteous? and to frequently recite the
Qur?aan. And Allaah will indeed allow all of this to be preserved by
him.? Taken from the Compiler?s Foreword

    Sharh Al-Aqeedat-il-Wasitiyah

    Ibn Taymiyyah Wasitiyah

The eminent scholar of Islam, Sheikh-ul-Islam Imam Ibn Taymiyyah,
discusses the real & original faith of Islam according to the Qur'an
& Sunnah. It deals with the perfect and undefiled Islamic Faith
and Creed of the As-Salaf-As-Salih (Pious Predecessors) particularly in
regards to Allah's names and attributes, with solid arguments in brief
words and terminologies. The book is highly appreciated by the scholars
for its brevity as well as comprehensiveness; and for its contents
produced in line with the Qur'an and Sunnah in an appealing and
    manifest manner.

    Book of Emaan

    Ibn Taymiyyah Bookofemaan

By Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. The source of all evil is the
deviation from the truth and its straight path. The goodness of all
matters is the following of truth and adherence to its right way. Truth
is the fixed state in which Allah has created every creature in a
particular way and managed its affair in a certain manner. Allah is
Perfect and exempt from any deficiency or error. This book aims to
elucidate the pillars of Emaan (basis of belief, faith) and the
characteristics of Kufr (disbelief) and its causes.

The Friends of Allah & The Friends of Shaytan

    Ibn Taymiyyah Friends

    By Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah
The Decisive Criterion between the Awliyaa of The Most Merciful and the
Awliyaa of Shaytaan Indeed the enmity between man and Shaytaan is old,
commencing from the time that Adam (alayhi as-salaam) was created, from
the time he was ordered to prostrate to him. Shaytaan refused, become
arrogant and hence disobeyed his Lord.
His arrogance and pride let him to commit a whole host of sins, it made
him expend every effort in misleading the children of Adam and made him
beautify and embellish sins such that they accepted them and eagerly
committed them Due to this Allah the exalted revealed the Books sent
the Messenger and enjoined His servants to various injunctions and
admonitions in order to secure them from the evil of Shaytaan. In the
light of His advice, profound injunctions and admonitions in order to
secure them from the evil of Shaytaan. In the light of His advice,
profound injunctions and sever warnings, mankind becomes separated into
two groups: a group who were guided and a group who deserved to be
misguided. The groups who were guided are the inhabitants of Paradise
and the groups who were misguided are the denizens of the Fire. The
inhabitants of Paradise are the Awliyaa of the Most Merciful and the
denizens of the Fire are the Awliyaa of Shaytaan.

The Goodly Word - Al Kalim al Tayyib

    Ibn Taymiyyah Word

Written by the renowned jurists of the fourteenth century, Taqi al-Din
Ahmad Ibn Taymiyya, The Goodly Word is one of the most referred to works
on prayer and the merits of prayer. Exclusively based on what the
Prophet Muhammad himself said and did, this work includes prayers for
every moment of the Muslims life. The Goodly Word is here presented in a
bi-lingual edition so that the exact prayers of the Prophet can be read
in the original Arabic. The translation is by two distinguished
scholars who have also translated An-Nawawi's Forty Hadith and Forty
Hadith Qudsi both published by the Islamic Texts Society.

The Religious And Moral Doctrine Of Jihad

    Ibn Taymiyyah Doctrine

Ibn Taymiyyah verdicts in regards to Jihad are often not available
especially on whom Jihaad is to be carried out. The shaykhs verdicts are
filled with a sea of knowledge that oulines fighting not only the enemy
aggressor, but also apostates and even those who oppose clear cut
rulings of Islam, despite their claims to be Muslims

Ibn Taymiyyah was given the title Shaykh ul-Islam and his numerous
Fataawa are a vast source of inspiration and Islamic legal opinion. Ibn
Taymiyyah died in Prison in Damascus on the night of Sunday/Monday 20th

    Enjoining Good, Forbidding Evil

    Ibn Taymiyyah Enjoingood

Ibn Taymiyyah said: "This (enjoining good and forbidding evil) is a duty
that the entire Ummah is obliged to fulfil. It is what the Ulama know
as an obligation of collective responsibility, if a group in society
undertook to discharge it, the other members of this society are
absolved from it. The entire Ummah is commisioned to undertake it, but
if a group therin was responsible for discharging it, the rest of
society is no longer obliged to undertake it."

    Fatwas of Muslim Women

    Ibn Taymiyyah Women

    By Ibn Taymiyyah
The Fatawa's of Shaikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (Rahimahullah). Though he
preferred the Hanbali school of jurisprudence, he was never biased in
favor of it, he frequently quotes the opinions of all four of the
well-known schools of jurisprudence, even others. In a number of
matters, he himself held opinions different from those of the four
    schools.

    The Nature of Fasting

    Ibn Taymiyyah Fasting

    By: Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah

This is a translation one of the smaller publications from the works of
Shaykh Al-Islam Taqiuddin Ahmad bin 'Abdul-Halim Ibn Taymiyyah. It has
been published in this form a variety of times with a number of minor
additions to the text under the title, "Hagigatus-Siyam," or, "The
Nature of Fasting." We have revised our version to meet the source
section of Majmu' AI-Fatawa (25:219) from where it appears that the
original booklet - with the exception of the questions, of which most
appear on earlier pages - has been taken. We have inserted brackets to
signify the additions, which earlier publishers probably took from other
sections of his writings. We have also added brief references to the
text for the Hadiths. I would like to express gratitude to brother
Ebrahim Aly Ma'rouf for the original translation of this booklet, and
the Darussalam staff for their editing and layout work.

    Ibn Taymeeyah's Letters From Prison

    Ibn Taymiyyah Lettersfromprison

This book contains a collection of letters demonstrating a side of the
personality of Shaykul-Islaam ibn Taymeeyah which is not commonly
recognized. Usually, it is his tough and uncompromising stances and his
truthful, sometimes harsh retorts that are remembered. However, as this
work demonstrates he was also a concerned son, a devoted teacher and a
passionate defender of the religion. These letters were selected and
introduced by Shaykul Muhammad Sulaiman al-Abdah. Born in Syria in 1941,
and now residing in London, he has taught in the religious institutes
and the Islaamic University of Madeenah. He now devotes his time to work
    in Islamic Da'wah.
